In this Introduction to Meditation Series, you will learn just a few basic meditation techniques and begin to explore how you can tap into your own inner space with clarity and ease. Each class will provide a number of meditation practices ranging from 5-20 minutes that will help students develop the tools of their mind and nervous system and create a framework that can be implemented into daily life, no matter how busy that life may seem. While there will be variety, students will also learn a simple and formal approach to meditation that has been passed down through the lineages of Yoga and Qi Gong for thousands of years. Finally, over the 4-week classes students will begin to cultivate their own daily meditation practices with the guidance and support of instructor Brian Witten.
Brian has been practicing and teaching yoga and meditation for 10 years. His education in health and human movement built a foundation and curiosity for how we as humans can truly live a balanced and fulfilled life. Through his practice and study of yoga and meditation he has witnessed the transformative and healing effects of these systems both personally in his own life and through the positive impact on the lives of his students. Meditation has been shown to effectively reduce chronic pain and stress, improve focus and productivity, and develop a clarity of mind that allows one to consciously create his or her ideal life. It is Brian’s passion to share simple and approachable methods of self-awareness which lead to this betterment of physical, mental, and spiritual/interpersonal wellbeing.
